Dr. Husam Ali Barakat is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with over 24 years of clinical experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. He brings a depth of expertise in both general and interventional gastroenterology, supported by extensive training and practice in the United States.
Dr. Barakat completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Jordan, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at Seton Hall University in Newark, New Jersey. He then pursued a specialized Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri, where he developed advanced expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Barakat served as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, providing comprehensive care for patients with complex gastrointestinal, liver, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
At Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Barakat’s scope of practice covers general gastroenterology, diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), hepatology (liver disease diagnosis and management), and the diagnosis and management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
