Dr. Imran Aslam is a British-trained Consultant Pulmonologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience across the UK and the UAE. His expertise covers the full spectrum of respiratory medicine, with a particular focus on interstitial lung disease, pleural disease, non-invasive ventilation, and respiratory failure. He brings to Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital a strong background in advanced procedures and teaching, with a reputation for excellence in clinical leadership and quality improvement.
Dr. Aslam earned his medical degree (MBBS) from N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, India, before completing his postgraduate training in the United Kingdom. He holds the MRCP (Respiratory) and CCST (Respiratory and General Internal Medicine) and was awarded the prestigious FRCP (London). He also completed the European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine (HERMES), further cementing his standing in the field.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Aslam served as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, where he led several service development initiatives, including the design and delivery of chronic cough pathways and pleural services. He also held a senior academic role as Training Program Director for General Internal Medicine with Health Education England. Since 2020, he has been serving as a Consultant Pulmonologist at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Aslam is skilled in a range of advanced procedures including bronchoscopy, medical thoracoscopy, indwelling pleural catheter insertion, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), and thoracic ultrasound. He has also played a central role in simulation-based teaching and training in the UK, developing several national respiratory and internal medicine training programs. His work in simulation, patient safety, and interventional pulmonology has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented at leading international conferences.
