Dr. Mahmoud Hegazy is a specialist psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare across Egypt, Oman, and humanitarian medical missions. He has deep expertise in managing complex psychiatric conditions and in developing integrated mental health programs in both hospital and community-based settings. His background also includes psychiatric care in emergency contexts and medical training for healthcare professionals in low-resource or conflict-affected regions.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Hegazy served as a Specialist Psychiatrist at the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman. There, he provided full-spectrum psychiatric assessments and treatment planning, including medication management and psychosocial interventions. He also held senior roles at Dar El-Mokattam for Mental Health (Dr. Rakhawy Hospital) in Egypt, where he oversaw the intensive care unit, managed high-risk and detoxification cases, and led educational programs for junior doctors.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Hegazy worked with the International Medical Corps (IMC) as a Psychiatrist Trainer, where he delivered training on priority mental health conditions based on WHO’s mhGAP guidelines. He also contributed to the development of mental health training materials and offered clinical supervision and support to frontline healthcare workers. In his role at Dar El-Mokattam and other hospitals in Egypt, he was deeply involved in psychotherapy, rehabilitation, and community reintegration for patients with chronic psychiatric illnesses.
At Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Hegazy provides psychiatric consultations, treatment plans, and crisis intervention support.
