Dr. Seetharaman has over 15 years of medical experience in anesthesiology, critical care, and perioperative medicine.
Dr. Seetharaman obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, University of Kerala, India. He later completed his Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Anesthesiology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi, India, under the National Board of Examinations, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India. Further advancing his subspecialty expertise, Dr. Seetharaman completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Hepatobiliary Pancreatic and Solid Organ Transplant Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, India.
Dr. Seetharaman has extensive clinical experience in anesthesiology, intensive care, and perioperative management across complex surgical specialties. His clinical practice has included anesthetic management for a wide range of surgical procedures as well as advanced critical care management in intensive care settings. He has particular experience in transplant anesthesia and the perioperative management of patients undergoing liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel transplantation, as well as gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary, urologic, and neurosurgical procedures. Dr. Seetharaman has also contributed to academic and research activities in anesthesiology and has published work in the Indian Journal of Anaesthesia, focusing on perioperative metabolic management and complications related to vascular access devices.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Seetharaman worked as a Specialist Registrar in the Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at Rashid Hospital, Dubai Health Authority, where he was involved in the anesthetic management of polytrauma patients, surgical and medical emergencies, and critical care cases. He was also part of Code Blue and rapid resuscitation teams and played an active role in the airway management and intensive care treatment of critically ill COVID-19 patients, in addition to contributing to resident education and departmental training programs.
At Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Seetharaman’s scope of practice covers perioperative anesthetic management for a wide range of surgical procedures, anesthesia for high-risk and complex surgical patients, airway management, invasive monitoring, pain management, perioperative critical care, and the anesthetic management of emergency and trauma cases requiring advanced resuscitation and multidisciplinary coordination.
