Dr. Bashayer has approximately seven years of medical experience in ophthalmology, including residency training and subspecialty fellowship in glaucoma.
Dr. Bashayer obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. She later completed a Glaucoma Fellowship at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Singapore, where she gained advanced clinical and surgical expertise in the management of complex glaucoma cases.
Dr. Bashayer has developed strong expertise in both general ophthalmology and subspecialty glaucoma care. Her clinical experience includes the diagnosis and management of a wide range of ocular conditions, with a particular focus on glaucoma, anterior segment diseases, and cataract surgery. She is experienced in comprehensive glaucoma evaluation, including advanced diagnostic techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), visual field analysis, and gonioscopy. Her clinical work also includes the medical management of glaucoma, long-term disease monitoring, and post-operative care.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Bashayer has extensive surgical experience in glaucoma and anterior segment procedures. This includes trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and combined cataract and glaucoma procedures. She is also experienced in laser treatments such as selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), and retinal laser procedures. Throughout her training, she has been actively involved in teaching and mentoring junior doctors and medical students, as well as participating in academic and professional development activities.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Bashayer worked as a Glaucoma Fellow at the Singapore National Eye Centre in Singapore. She also served as an Ophthalmology Specialist at Magrabi Health Eye Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
At Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Bashayer’s scope of practice covers the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, cataract surgery including routine and complex cases and combined procedures, and general ophthalmology care including anterior segment conditions, intravitreal injections, and retinal laser procedures.
