Dr. Saleh Hessen has more than 12 years of medical experience in endocrinology and internal medicine.
Dr. Hessen completed his medical education in Norway, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Oslo. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology by the Norwegian Medical Board and also holds a European Board Certification in Endocrinology. In addition, he has obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), United Kingdom, with specialization in endocrinology.
Dr. Hessen has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of endocrine disorders. His clinical expertise includes the management of diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2), including advanced technologies such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. He is also experienced in managing thyroid and parathyroid disorders, adrenal conditions such as Addison’s disease and Cushing’s syndrome, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and complex electrolyte imbalances. His work also includes the management of obesity and metabolic conditions through comprehensive assessment and long-term treatment strategies.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hessen has contributed to academic and research activities, including teaching medical students at the University of Oslo within the endocrinology department. He has also participated in national registry and quality improvement initiatives in Norway, including the NOKLUS system for diabetes and endocrine disease registries, as well as registries related to autoimmune endocrine syndromes, Addison’s disease, and hypoparathyroidism.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Hessen worked as an Endocrinology Consultant at SEHA Clinic in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
At Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Hessen’s scope of practice covers the diagnosis and management of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid and parathyroid conditions, adrenal disorders, pituitary diseases, metabolic conditions, and related hormonal imbalances.
