Dr. Mohamed Metwally has over 18 years of medical experience in intensive care medicine and critical care management.
Dr. Metwally obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, graduating in 2004. He later completed a Master’s degree in General Intensive Care Medicine from Ain Shams University in 2012, further strengthening his expertise in the management of critically ill patients.
Dr. Metwally has extensive experience in intensive care medicine, with a clinical focus on the management of critically ill patients requiring advanced organ support and close monitoring. His work includes the management of patients with severe respiratory, cardiovascular, and metabolic conditions, as well as the use of advanced critical care interventions such as mechanical ventilation, invasive monitoring, and emergency life-support procedures. He is also trained in critical care ultrasonography, advanced life support, and the management of complex metabolic and electrolyte disorders.
Prior to joining Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Metwally worked as an Intensive Care Specialist at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Earlier in his career, he served as an Intensive Care Medicine Specialist at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University Hospital in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and at Saad Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia. He also worked as an ICU Specialist at Alwai Tunsi Hospital in Saudi Arabia. Earlier clinical training included multiple intensive care residency roles across several hospitals in Cairo, Egypt, where he gained extensive experience in critical care medicine.
At Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, Dr. Metwally’s scope of practice covers the diagnosis and management of critically ill adult patients requiring intensive care support, including mechanical ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, advanced life support, metabolic and electrolyte management, and the coordination of multidisciplinary care for patients with complex medical conditions.
